CURRENT:
AHWS has recently partnered with Mogra Children's Home, a children's orphanage founded by Reverend Hannah Wairimu in Northern Nairobi in 1998. For nearly 30 years, Mogra has been involved in caring for children from the ages of 0-17 years, and has served as a rescue center, hub for quality education, and encouraged its graduates to go to college. Mogra has helped thousands of abandoned, neglected and abused children throughout Nairobi and surrounding vicinities.
AHWS is proud to work with our partner, NWB in collaboration with providing nutrition support, education, and clinical nutrition assessment with Mogra's medical team and administration. Our project will begin in June 2024.
PREVIOUS:
In January 2021, AHWS began a partnership with Nutritionist without Borders (NWB) on a nutrition and health project, based in the Roysambu slum of Nairobi, Kenya.
In following the UNICEF Community MICYN (Maternal, Infants, Child, Youth, Nutrition) training guidelines, maternal and infant/child nutrition education has been launched for mothers. Exclusive breastfeeding is also encouraged for at least 6 months.
The MICYN project was concluded in May 2024 after nearly 3.5 years and successful nutrition education programs.
